"RED RAIDERS HAVE DOORS CLOSED AT COLISEUM, FUTURE FOR TEXAS TECH HOCKEY AT HOME MAY BE OVER"
Release for December.12, 2008
Brought to you by CIBER INC.

Texas Tech hockey thought losing three close games up at the annual Colorado University tournament was tough, then they realized that they had no more home to play at. The Tech Hockey team was evicted from the the City Bank Coliseum today and was asked to get their belongings and move out. With the first month's rent of 12,000 dollars due in the lease agreement gone and passed from December.1st, 2008 the City of Lubbock council has opted for the Red Raider hockey team not to finish their remaining home season schedule at the City Bank Coliseum.

Coach Fioroni and his staff and players are very upset by this decision but can not blame the Lubbock city council for their decision; "I was told we were getting the funds to pay the first installment of the lease agreement by a closed investment party interested in funding Tech Hockey. Time was our biggest enemy and the city council would just not budge on allowing us more time to get the funds together. It is a sad day because so much is lost here, not just the Tech Hockey program but all hockey and ice skating here in Lubbock, the South Plains and Texas Tech University. We tried, I tried to inform our investors that our time was running out, there was nothing that could be done by them as all have been terribly effected by our country's struggling economy. We still hope to get the funds together and move on in a positive format with the city council so we can work an agreement out to get back into the City Bank Coliseum. Again time is our enemy and we must work diligently to achieve the correct funds to move on. We will honor all contracted road games and will look to move our remaining home schedule to Odessa, TX if we can. Right now though it does not look good," quotes a tired and saddened Fioroni.

Tech Hockey will take a well deserved Christmas break now and will try to reorganize and absorb all that has taken place. Much must be done to get the hockey program and its partners back on the ice. Tech Hockey would like to thank all of their support staff and fans and hope to have everything worked out after the Christmas holidays. "TECH HOCKEY DROPS THREE CLOSE ONES TO TOP RANKED WESTERN TEAMS AT ANNUAL CU AND CSU TOURNAMENT"
Release for December.8th, 2008
Brought to you by INTERIM HEALTHCARE.

Tech Hockey headed north up to Buffalo country as they looked to get three big Western wins over top ranked teams at the Annual CU/CSU Tournament in Boulder, CO and Fort Collins, CO. Tech was situated in the Boulder, CO pool along with CU, NCU and EWU. The Fort Collins, CO pool had defending champs and host CSU, San Diego State and Metro State. Tournament played started for the Red Raiders against host #5 Western ranked CU as they would drop a close game 5-3 with an empty netter. #32 MacQouid would try and keep his winning streak alive from the UNLV series but was unable to close the door on the Buffs. Tech was out-shot 40-38 with #7 Kevin Mayoux getting 1G, 1A and #18 Ryan Brown getting 2 goals for the boys in Red and Black.

Game two against #3 Western Ranked EWU would prove to be a nail-biter as EWU would skate to a close one goal victory of 3-2. Pruneau was in net for the Red Raiders and played well, Tech out-shot EWU 33-27 but could not solve EWU hot tender. #19 Jerrin Ashford and #4 Jordan Novak would each garner 1G, 1A. With two heart felt close losses, Tech would look to rebound against the high flying Northern Colorado University.
The third and final game vs #4 Western Ranked NCU would be a frustrating battle as again Tech would run into another hot goalie. The Red Raiders would again out-shoot their opponent 36-30 but could not get the victory and would drop the game 4-1 to NCU who got an empty netter with 11 seconds left to seal the victory. #19 Tech sniper Jerrin Ashford would get the only goal for the Red Raiders and would lead all Tech players in scoring over the weekend with 2G, 1A. #7 Mayoux would score 1 adding 2 helpers and #30 Pruneau would drop his third straight game dating back to his UNLV loss.

With three tough losses against top ranked Western teams Tech must now regroup during their lengthy Christmas break and look to having a great second half. Tech will begin second half play at EWU first showcase tourney which goes from January.16-18, 2009 in Cheney, WA at EWU new state of the art multi-million dollar hockey facility on campus.

Merry Christmas to all Red Raiders and have a Happy New Year!!
