Release for January.28th, 2009
Brought to you by the NeuroSurgical Group of Lubbock.
Texas Tech Hockey is still ranked at #12 in the Western Conference after the 4th ranking period. With one ranking period to go, (final ranking release for February.16,2009) Tech must jump 2 spots to get that 10th and final spot in hope of moving on to the Regional Championship tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah. With no regular season games left on their schedule except for the March.8th contest vs OU which will be after the final ranking period it will be tough for the Red Raiders to get in. With the 5th toughest schedule in the country, Tech will have to hope that their strength of schedule is enough to bump them in.
Texas Tech has felt left out when it comes to rankings with the past two seasons leaving Tech on the outside looking in. Texas Tech has posted Western Conference top records in the both previous seasons yet has kept that 11th spot both times losing out on the final 10th spot both times and coming very close last season by 4 voting points losing it to Oregon State.
There were some interesting computer rankings compiled by myhockeyrankings.com, a college hockey data website both for the Western Conference rankings and the entire Division II ACHA league. Myhockeyrankings.com had Texas Tech at 8th in the West with the hands down toughest strength of schedule; http://myhockeyrankings.com/view_2008_rank.php?a=3&v=930 and had the Red Raiders at 31st in the entire country with the 5th toughest schedule:

Its too bad that this ranking format was not used as Tech would be punching their ticket to the Regional Tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah. Only good votes and a little luck can propel your Red Raiders to Regionals, lets hope they get a bunch of both.
Go Texas Tech Hockey!!!
